De la Munte pe Hămoacă

The story of the Moți people, who migrated to the lowlands over a century ago, continues to captivate those who are willing to listen. The life experiences of these individuals—transplanted from the mountains to the plains in various waves and contexts—leave a profound emotional impact. They recount the hardships they endured and how the ups and downs of history have shaped both individuals and their communities. Additionally, they share how the Moți overcame these challenges. The faces of the first Moți to arrive in the lowlands, preserved in the ONAC collection at the National Archives in Bucharest, reflect their grit and determination, as well as the resilience of these families who were displaced to the plains. Accustomed to the outlines of mountains at every sunrise, the Moți suddenly found themselves in an endless expanse. Through their strength and resolve, they succeeded in bringing the spirit of the mountains down to the lowlands.
